Baby Peggy rides the dragon at Yamashiro (then known as the Bernheimer estate), for an unknown silent film, 1921.  The Bernheimer brothers were importers of Oriental works of art for many years and opened their authentic Japanese palace on a hill overlooking Franklin and Orange Avenues in 1914.  The property also appears in the films Saynora, Kentucky Fried Movie, and Memoirs of a Geisha [via]

speaking of Peggy (aka Diana Serra Cary), she’s still alive and kicking it at 92!

and coming soon (hopefully) to a theater near us – a documentary all about her: Baby Peggy: The Elephant in the Room

and did you know that Peggy was named the mascot of the 1924 Democratic Convention in New York, and stood onstage waving a flag near Franklin Delano Roosevelt????
