A Preakness Goodwill Tour – Baltimore Sun, May 8, 1936

Accompanied by Baltimore Mayor Howard W Jackson and his wife, the Preakness Queen Mrs W W Lanaham, and her court, embarked on a three-day, eight-city promotional goodwill tour of Maryland in the weeks leading up to the 1936 Preakness. 

’[The tour was] designed to make first the State and then the nation Preakness-conscious,’ The Baltimore Sun reported.
